Cocktail Weekend is a weekend filled with flavourful experiences, where you’ll explore and taste your way through the fascinating history of the gin cocktail – from medicinal remedy to beloved social drink.
Our Cocktail Weekends are presented as a three-part series, with each chapter focusing on a different era in the evolution of cocktail culture – from colonial punch bowls to the elegant signatures of the Art Deco bars. You’ll get to enjoy era-specific cocktails, engaging stories, and classic flavours that have shaped the way we drink gin today.
The weekend begins on Friday the 19th with a welcome cocktail and a delicious two-course dinner in our cozy restaurant Southside.
Saturday morning starts with a generous breakfast buffet. You then have time to explore the charming town center of Härnösand or unwind at Stillery Relax & Poolclub. In the afternoon, we’ll take you by bus to the Hernö Gin Distillery, just 10 minutes from the hotel, where you’ll enjoy an inspiring cocktail tasting experience.
After the tasting, the bus brings you back to the hotel, where the evening continues with a specially composed three-course dinner inspired by the flavors of Hernö Gin.
Following a good night’s sleep, another delightful breakfast buffet awaits before it’s time to check out and head home with memories of a weekend full of flavor.
The early 1900s mark gin’s first golden age. In the United States and Europe, the cocktail evolved into an art form—a balance of elegance, flavor, and simplicity. Classic recipes took shape in hotel bars and speakeasies, where precision and aesthetics were essential. In Detroit, tart and herbal ingredients were mixed in unexpected harmony, while honey and lemon were used creatively to mask the often harsh taste of homemade gin of the era.
At the same time, energizing blends were crafted to restore the body after a long night—drawing inspiration from both American and European influences. In Florence, a bitter and powerful mix was born, with an Italian heart and a British spirit base, while the style ideals of the Art Deco era found expression in light, clean and floral cocktails from London’s most iconic hotel bars. This was an era when drinks didn’t just taste good—they looked and felt like the times: sophisticated, structured, and modern.
Drink packages are available for both dinners and can be booked directly on site.
